We are really excited to announce that we are expanding the girls’ section at OCs and are hoping to offer the full range of contact and non-contact up to U13 including the potential for festival entry if we get a big enough squad. We really welcome sisters/cousins/friends to come and try us out. Our coaches are expecting and have prepared for a wide range of abilities in each age group as well as differing desires to get muddy or play competitively.
Women’s rugby is the fasted growing participation sport in the country. The women’s premiership now has its own sponsor not linked to the men’s game and the women’s game is no longer a niche sport. We are excited to be trialling a partnership with Harlequins which will give our players exclusive support from Harlequins' coaches and the opportunity to meet several players from the Premiership club.
Unicorns (U8s-U10s; School Years 3-5)
Non-contact touch rugby training. Those girls who are in Year 5 may opt to train either with the Unicorns or have a go
U11 Girls (U10s and U11s; School Years 5 &6)
The girls age groups cross two age groups to maximise numbers available to play. We are currently applying for dispensation from Surrey for this age group to play at U10 rules.
U13 Girls (U12 and U12; School Years 7 & 8)
The girls age groups cross two age groups to maximise numbers available to play. We have a close relationship with Hinchley Wood Secondary and would urge any girl to try the sport either here or there. OC Rugby is making a substantial investment in its girls section this season. We first established a non-contact girls section in 2016 and it has grown from the initial 2 girls to 30 regular attendees playing both contact and non-contact versions of the game.
